Why access to justice matters

Saturday 2nd May We are so fortunate to live in a country where the rule of law is rarely questioned. As a principle, it means that no one is above the law, and all may equally benefit from its protection. However in reality we know that accessing that protection is so much easier for those who are wealthy and well-connected. JusticeNet SA provides a safety net for those South Australians who are neither of those things, but who also do not qualify for legal aid, which is increasingly available only to those in desperate need. There are thankfully many South Australian lawyers who are willing to devote their time to pro bono work, as part of the privilege of practising in the justice system. JusticeNet SA is the link which converts this will into meaningful outcomes for South Australians who would otherwise not be able to access that system and the rights it protects.
