Why we're walking
Your support creates a powerful ripple effect! Donations to Walk for Justice multiply many times over in pro bono legal services for vulnerable South Australians.
Held during Law Week on National Pro Bono Day, this event celebrates the legal profession's extraordinary commitment to helping those facing disadvantage. The walk represents a significant portion of JusticeNet SA's annual funding, allowing us to continue connecting those in need with vital legal support throughout the year.
George's Story
George* had rebuilt his life after homelessness and mental health challenges. Securing supported accommodation was a turning point.
Soon after moving in, he experienced a relapse and was hospitalised. When he returned home, eviction proceedings were underway.
Without legal intervention, George would likely have returned to homelessness.
JusticeNet prepared detailed submissions outlining his recovery and supported him through review proceedings.
He was granted a second chance.
He kept his home.
Early intervention didn’t just resolve a legal issue — it prevented homelessness.
Jane's Story
A complex rent review left Jane* with $30,000 in arrears.
A debt she could never repay.
A tenancy at risk.
JusticeNet worked closely with her across multiple appointments to prepare comprehensive submissions seeking reassessment based on her actual income.
The Tribunal set aside the decision.
The arrears were cancelled.
A preventable administrative issue did not become homelessness.

About JusticeNet SA
JusticeNet SA is a not-for-profit legal service for South Australians in need. We help vulnerable people access the justice they deserve by empowering lawyers to give back through meaningful pro bono work.
Since 2008, JusticeNet SA has worked tirelessly to stop disadvantaged people from slipping through the cracks in the legal system. Our pro bono clearing house and discrete task assistance clinics support people experiencing hardship, including poverty and homelessness, refugees and asylum seekers, and people representing themselves in court.
We provide a structured environment for top-tier law firms to fulfil their pro bono targets and equip lawyers with the skills they need to tackle the complexity of this work.
As Walk for Justice grows, so too does our impact with record breaking assistance in 2024-2025 across our services.
Pro Bono Connect
We connect people and charities with lawyers who can help them resolve their civil law problems.
Self-Representation Service
We offer legal advice and assistance to people representing themselves in the Federal Courts.
Homeless Legal
Our outreach legal service helps people who are experiencing (or are at risk of) homelessness.
